Music Update
I’ve been working for the past week on two new songs, Save Me and When The World Comes Down On You. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to do the vocals tonight or Saturday night (there’s talk of the girls having some friends sleepover…) to finish them off.
Save Me is kinda grungy with a nod towards Nirvana / Pearl Jam. I’ve been writing alot of acoustic-based music lately, so I’ve been itching to get heavy. Also, I’ve been listening to the new Rush album (Snakes and Arrows) which has influenced me. I’ve been kicking this song around for about 6 weeks now trying to figure out the best way to record it. It started out as an acoustic number but wasn’t really cutting it. The grunge sound seems to work.
When The World Comes Down On You is kind of a Rush / U2 hybrid. Again, the new Rush album is influencing this one (although this song reminds me of Roll The Bones-era Rush). I started this song while recording a guitar part for Baby Don’t You Let Me Down. I’ve been using my Les Paul alot during these recordings, but for Baby Don’t You Let Me Down I used my Strat and it got me inspired! Sometimes it’s good to play different instruments to get the creative juices flowing…
Which reminds me… I need to write a review of Snakes and Arrows!
