Holy Crap! The Phillies won the NL East!
What an incredible finish! The Phillies seem to have finally earned the nickname “The Fighting Phils” by coming from 7 games back to overtake the Mets. Of course the Mets helped tremendously by completely collapsing in the stretch, but it’s important to note that the Phillies swept the Mets to get that collapse started.
So, we are now looking at the first Phillies playoff run since 1993. 1993… jeez, who would have known it would take so long. Ginny and I remember cheering for that Phillies team because she was pregnant with our first child, Lauren. Lauren is now 13 and we have 3 kids… ;-)
Anyway, congrats to the Phillies! I had my doubts, but their offense, starting pitching, and most importantly the bullpen seems to have really strengthened - and just in time!
The first game will be this Wed against either the Padres or the Rockies (they have to play a tie-breaking game for the Wild Card).
