On The Road Again
Well, I’m back down in Orlando again for the 2nd time in 3 weeks. And it’s been mostly raining… oh well. It’s not like I’m vacationing. And no PT Cruiser this time. This time it’s a Sebring Convertible. Which is why it’s raining… go figure.
When I left my house on Sunday afternoon to catch my flight, I left 3 hours early figuring I’d have plenty of time to get through security. My flight was at 2:54pm. So I left at 12pm. You know what they say about the best laid plans… well this is what I saw when I got to the Jersey-side of the Walt Whitman Bridge:

Oh well. Good thing I left early! It took more than hour to get across (there was a multi-car accident). And in case you are wondering, the Speed Radar was not a problem.
When I finally got to the airport, got my car in extended parking and got to the terminal, AirTran had about 200+ people in line trying to check their bags…
Which brings up a thought I’ve been having while traveling… why don’t I just pack the absolute necessities (shoes, some business clothes, etc.) and when I get to my destination run to a Target and pick up some cheap clothes to get me through the trip? Or start sending my stuff to the hotel dry cleaning? I need to get it down to a small carry-on bag! That’s my new mission in life…. Sad? Yes. But sad with a purpose!
Anyway, back to the AirTran line… they were sooooooo slooooowwww. I didn’t know why. I didn’t care why. But I was getting pissed off! And I was going to miss my flight. Eventually, with 30 minutes to spare, they called my flight number and “expressed” us through.
Then I hit the security line - which (as usual at Philly International) was backed up halfway to baggage claim. For once it actually moved fast quick briskly. I got through the metal detector with 5 mins. to spare before the plane door closed. And I still had to put my shoes back on and pack my laptop back into its case.
As I ran, I realized that my gate was at the very end of the terminal. I also realized that I looked like those idiots that ran by me in the past and I thought “you idiot, you should have left 3 hours early!”
Anyway, I run up to the gate and the sign says… DELAYED. Departing at 3:38pm. So I decided to sit down and tie my shoelaces…
