Traveling This Week
Well, I just flew into Orlando, FL. I’m doing some SharePoint 2007 consulting this week and I’ll be flying back on Friday night.
I flew AirTran for the 1st time (and for a change). I didn’t want to give USAir any business, nor subject myself to their poor service. All in all, AirTran was fine. I did see Chubby Checker (inventor of the Twist) at Philly International. Seems like a nice enough guy – he was all smiles and cheerful as people came up to speak with him or get his autograph.
Security at Philly Intl was crazy though. I took about an hour to get through and the line stretched halfway to baggage claim. People were missing flights and getting nasty… I got there 2 hours early, so I was fine, but for those cutting it close – it was real close.
The flight was non-eventful for the most part. I did have a young English couple sitting next to me. Once the plane landed, the girl turns to me (I was in the window seat) and says “Everyone in America has been so nice. We really like it here”. Once the plane door opened, everyone started getting up and ready to bolt. Then she turned to me and said “If you don’t mind, we wait until everyone else gets completely off the plane before standing up. You don’t mind, do you?”. For a split second, I considered ruining their perception of Americans by getting nasty and saying “Yes I do mind, I want to get going!”. But then I figured I’ll just be waiting in baggage claim anyway, so what the heck. See, I’m a nice guy…
